Dean Waterfield donates to MNDA

Dean Waterfield Lodge, one of the Lodges meeting in Hereford, has donated £500 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of a former member.

Ron Griffiths died in 2017 of a particularly aggressive form of the disease, only four months after first diagnosis, at the age of 73. He had been a member of Dean Waterfield Lodge since 1994, and was its Master in 2006. He continued to be a very active member of the Lodge, taking the offices of Assistant Director of Ceremonies and Assistant Secretary, and was actively involved in Freemasonry in general.

Tim Bridgland-Taylor of Dean Waterfield Lodge, Dr Anita Sharma-James, and Brenda Griffiths, Ron’s widow

Dr Anita Sharma-James, Chair of the Worcestershire branch of MNDA, visited the Masonic Hall in Hereford to meet Ron’s widow Brenda, to receive the cheque and to tell us more about the MNDA. The Association carries out a wide range of activities on behalf of those with the disease, and their families, and also raises funds to help support these services. You can find out more about what they do on their website here.

Dr Sharma-James warmly thanked the members of Dean Waterfield Lodge for the donation, which will go towards funding events and support for those living with the disease in the region.
