Herefordshire Freemasons, through the Herefordshire Masonic Charity Association, have donated £1,000 to Hay & District Dial-a-Ride. At a presentation ceremony by the clock tower in Hay on Wye the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Michael Holland, presented a cheque to the Chair of the charity, Mary Fellowes.
Hay Dial-a-Ride is a transport charity which helps local elderly and disabled people and others who have no means of suitable transport to lead independent lives by providing affordable and accessible transport. It carries out more 6,500 local passenger journeys a year in and around Hay on Wye.
This enables people to get to doctor’s appointments, shops, hairdressers, social events, and to visit friends and family. The charity operates within a nine square mile radius of Hay, on both sides of the border.
RW Bro Holland, in presenting the cheque, said how pleased local Freemasons were to be able to support such a worthwhile cause. the presentation was arranged by members of Loyal Hay Lodge, meeting in the town, some of whose members have close links with the organisers of the charity.
