Ariconium Lodge makes donations to Provincial causes

At their September 2019 meeting, Ariconium Lodge in Ross on Wye made two donations to Provincial causes. Pip Thomas, Charity Steward of Ariconium Lodge, presented the cheques to Chris Burrow, Provincial Director of Ceremonies, who was present as the Representative of the Deputy Provincial Grand Master in Charge, Michael Holland.

One of the cheques, for £150, was a donation from Lodge members towards the appeal for funds for a permanent memorial in Hereford Cathedral to the late Provincial Grand Master, The Rev’d David Bowen. Thanks to the generosity of Brethren and Lodges in the Province, this appeal is approaching its target of £6,000 to provide an altar and two benches for the Upper Audley Chapel, which is being refurbished as part of the Cathedral’s celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the canonisation of St Thomas Cantilupe. The furnishings will be inscribed with Rev’d David’s name, as a memorial to his close association with the Cathedral throughout his professional and Masonic life. There is more about this project here.

The other cheque, for £50, was a contribution from the Lodge Summer Social towards the 2020 Festival in aid of the Masonic Samaritan Fund. This too is approaching its target, and with continued efforts by the members and Lodges of the Province will hopefully achieve this by the culmination of the Festival next year.

Speaking on behalf of the Deputy PGM in charge, Chris Burrow warmly thanked the Lodge and its members for their generosity in supporting both of these projects.
